“Sleep when

baby sleeps…

Fold the laundry when baby

folds the laundry”

Mommy and Me-1-2.jpg

As a Mom I understand how exhausting the postpartum period is. There were many times I felt out of control, lonely, and lost. I had just been through the intense experience that is childbirth that had taken a huge toll on me physically, when my husband and I were handed a baby we barely knew and sent on our way. My emotions were all over the place and I felt on the verge of tears 24/7, my poor husband didn’t know what to do with me! I didn’t know what to do with me! I should have, but I didn’t feel comfortable asking for advice. I felt like I needed to prove to everyone I was a good Mom and that I knew exactly what I was doing. The truth is, no one expected that of me…so why did I expect that of myself? If you are reading this, I applaud you! Because that means you are already taking steps to take control of your postpartum experience - which is more than a lot of women do as they prepare for the arrival of their baby. No woman should be expected to “bounce back” to everyday life as fast as Instagram or Facebook makes it seem. Those first months after giving birth are so tender and how you treat your body during that time will have a lasting effect. Hiring a postpartum doula as someone who will help you heal and facilitate bonding with your little one, is the most selfless thing you could do. While you pour so much strength and energy into caring for your new little human, let someone CARE FOR YOU.

With Love,

Emma-lee
